Different mechanism. The water core means you can dial firmness by how much water you fill the chamber with — less water, softer pillow; more water, firmer support. The fiber layer over the chamber feels soft on your face. The Tempur-Ergo isn't the densest Tempur pillow on the market — there are pricier ones with more support — but the Ergo is the right Tempur to buy at this price point.
